Richard T. Crowder is an adjunct professor in Virginia Tech's Agricultural and Applied Economics Department and senior executive with extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, on a domestic and international scale. Formerly, he served the Office of the United States Trade Representative as the ambassador and chief agricultural negotiator responsible for conducting global trade negotiations. Richard was also the president and chief executive officer of an 800 member-strong agricultural trade association, an executive advisor for companies in the agricultural, medical and technology industries, and the senior vice president of international business management for a leading agricultural genetics and seed biotechnology company.

Additionally, he served as the undersecretary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and in multiple executive positions for both a major processed-meats producer and consumer packaged goods manufacturer in corporate risk, finance, strategic planning and corporate economics.

Richard has been on numerous advisory committees and boards, a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Virginia Tech and Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University.
